In the 1980s and 1990s, waves of vocal demonstrations for two law reforms spread across the
country.
One wave, donning the colours of the rainnow, was for homosexual law reform; the other,
fronted by flower-power people with shoulder-length hair, was for the legalisation of cannabis.
The more pressing of those came to pass when, in 2013, the marriage equality law sailed
through Parliament but the other was put in on the back burner.
In 2018, it would eem the journe of the "other" law reform – medicinal cannabis – finally
began.
